About the Author

Emma Hine’s love of writing started with poetry when she was just a child. In recent years, she also discovered a passion for photography and started displaying her poems with a photographic backdrop using photographs she has taken herself. This is known as poetography. However, before this poetography phase, many years ago, in her late twenties, Emma bridged the gap from poetry to writing a novel. Despite not publishing her debut until 2025, The Power of the Wouivre was actually written in 2004

Emma has always had a deep fascination with time travel and has also always enjoyed research so the idea of a historical novel came naturally. As a lover of Italy and, in particular, Florence, the setting for her debut was easy to ascertain. But she wanted to do something different and show the city in a way it might not have been shown before so she chose the Middle Ages – a time before the great architecture of the Renaissance turned it into the beautiful city we all know today.

The young adult genre was literally decided for Emma by the characters as she wrote them and the plot developed from there.
