About the Author
Emma was born in Buckinghamshire, England and now lives in Dorset, UK. She started writing poetry when she was just a child. 'It was so long ago I don't remember my exact age but I have always penned my thoughts into rhyme for as long as I can remember. (Back when rhyming poetry was more fashionable!)'
She likes to give her poems a backdrop using photographs she has taken myself. This style of photo-poetry is often called poetography.
She wrote her first book, The Power of the Wouivre, at 29. She has always enjoyed research so the idea of a historical novel came naturally and as a lover of Italy and, in particular, Florence, the setting was easy to ascertain. But she wanted to do something different and show the city in a way it might not have been shown before so she chose the Middle Ages - a time before the great architecture of the Renaissance turned it into the beautiful city we all know today. The young adult genre was literally decided for her by the characters as she wrote them and the plot developed from there!
Having almost secured an agent and then lost them at the final hurdle, she put the book on hold while she had a family. Now 20 years later, and with all the convenience of social media, She has decided to revisit and self-publish The Power of the Wouivre and invite you to follow her on her journey.
As well as writing, Emma loves all things bookish so reading, obviously! But also, recently, book binding. She enjoys making handstitched, handbound notebooks which are all OOAK, using her own nature photography for the covers. Her nature photography is also the inspiration for cushions which she makes to provide a perfect cosy reading nook. Both the cushions and the notebooks can be found at fotofurnished.co.uk
